KIT KAT
"In the middle of the night I yowl at the bottom of the staircase, because I want my people to come and carry me upstairs. I see shadows dancing at the top of the stairs and I don't want to have to walk through them." Kit Kat's people put a nightlight at the top of the stairs and now Kit Kat no longer yowls for her people and journeys up the stairs by herself.




Journey says, "I think the puppy is going to be a nuisance. Maybe dad (her person) and I should move out."
"Are you going to teach me to be a good girl?"
"I like night the best. I was always scared of the big ball of light that would rise in the morning. Then I realized it had something to do with daylight. It still makes me a bit nervous."
Jake is 2 years old. His people wanted to know why he barks in the car. He asks, "What are shadows? I think I bark at things I don't understand."
I asked Fred why he is scared of the wind and runs into the bathroom to hide. He replied, "I heard that the trees can fall over from the wind and hurt people. The wind can sound very mean. I like it when there is a gentle breeze blowing on my face and when the air smells nice."
This is Girly Girl she is a Bengal Cat. She reminds me of a Border Collie. She talks about wanting to learn tricks and says she chews her bed because, "I have anxiety because there is too much in my head." When asked if she was nervous about getting outside and not being able to be found on Christmas Eve she replies, "I was not scared at all. I was having too much fun. I knew I could find my people instantly."
Even though Lotus' mom is kind and loving, at times Lotus is scared to come to her. Lotus explains, "Even though I know my mom loves me and would never hurt me. There is a feeling I can not explain in my body. It tells me to be careful and run away. I wish I could be more brave." This is common for animals that have fear imprinted in them from the first year of their lives.
His person wanted Cooper to sleep in the kids' room at night because they are scared. Cooper said, "I am not ready for that job. I am too scared too. I'd rather sleep with mom and dad (grownups)."
A few years ago, Journey's people called me because she was no longer going outside into the yard. Journey explains why, "One morning, I went outside and a saw a large wild cat as big as me. He was eating one of the squirrels that would come to the bird feeder. It was a terrible sight because there was blood everywhere. I couldn't move and the cat scared me with an evil eye. I was worried he would get me next."
"I saw a Mountain Lion kill a colt when I was young. I recently smelled a mountain lion on the trail. Now I am scared to go for trail rides. I truly want to be brave."
