EMMA ON HERDING
"Herding sheep has changed my life! I tried it on the cat. He didn't appreciate it. He hissed and swatted at me."

"I Love driving because it gives me a reason to wake up in the morning. I was tired of just waking up to see the birds and to talk to my friends. I really want to drive at an event. I am very excited about the idea."
"I am the most talented polo pony because I think like the ball. I can tell where it is going to go. I am the best horse on the team."
This is Savannah. She lived at the county shelter for many months. A volunteer has become her person and has spent a huge amount of time teaching Savannah to feel safe. Savannah says about learning basic commands, "I am happy it is learning instead of having to know."

HERE ARE WHAT 6 OF MY STUDENTS HAD TO SAY ABOUT LEARNING TO SWIM:
CISCO: "At first I thought you were mean to put me in the water. Once I learned how to move correctly I enjoyed it. The most fun was learning how to fetch my ball in the water. Now I am a good swimmer."
TOAST: "I am old and my mom always thought I was scared of the water. I love to swim. It is the best feeling in the world even though I need you to help me so my head doesn't go under. On days I am disoriented, swimming helps me to wake up my mind."

"I know I am the smartest dog in Texas." Bella received a high-school diploma in Texas and made the news. Read her story: http://grantsrant.wordpress.com/2008/03/27/bella-is-a-high-school-grad/

My brother is an investigative reporter for NBC. He is a four time Emmy Award winner and sixteen time Emmy Award nominee. GRANTS RANT is his blog. I have always admired my brother for fearlessly going after his passions. He has done stories on animal abuse, rescue and the inhumane capture of elephants in the wild for a well known circus. GRANTS RANT is his new project. I find it humorous as well as educational.
Rusty and the trainer's dogs talk to one another. Rusty thought he should stay close to the sheep and bite them. In cattle yes, but not with sheep. When I told him the other dogs were right by telling him not to bite the sheep he says, "I don't like being wrong."
"This is the best time of my life. I am going to remember every dog here. I have so many friends."
"Did you know that I am the smartest in my litter?"
This is Rocket a professional Cutting Horse. He is being ridden by his trainer Scott Weis. Rocket is very talented. I asked him about being disciplined and he replied, "Discipline is doing your best even when your body is sore and your mind is tired. If you concentrate for a short period of time you can rest later. Discipline is believing in yourself and knowing that inside of you is powerful and worthy of greatness."
This is young Kylie. She lives in a home with Zip and Kiwi, who are both experienced agility athletes. Kylie looks up to her older siblings and says with confidence, "One day, I am going to be the biggest agility champion in the world!"
This is Zip. His mom is a positive dog trainer. He says, "I love to run fast and earn titles in agility. When running the agility course, I would like it if my mom could visualizes the next obstacle in her mind sooner. I get a lot of my cues from the pictures in her head. I like to be prepared."
After Greta rode the escalator as Nordstroms, I told her that she could tell Gita (her sister German Shepherd) about it when she got home. Greta replied, "I could tell Gita about it, but she wouldn't believe me."
May you find wisdom and humor in the thoughts and feelings of these animals.
